August of 2021, Wellamo moved into new hands and owners. We are humble and honored of continuing the story of Wellamo together with guests from near and far. We want to respect the spirit of the iconic restaurant, and old loyal customers are sure to find something familiar in both the menu and the milieu.
At the new Wellamo, we focus on what we do best: great flavors, delicious wines and cocktails, and a cozy, relaxed atmosphere.
The kitchen, led by head-chef Dani Hänninen, brings unforgettable flavors to the table, respecting the variety of the Finnnish seasons. Restaurant manager Minna Tuomela is responsible for the comfort of the guests at Wellamo.

- Wellamo was founded in Katajanokka, on the corner of Vyökatu in 1975. Founder Heta Brotherus liked a small but cozy space and a terrace with a urban seascape. Heta's cooking skills were limited to home cooking, but her food was also loved in the new restaurant, which also enjoyed art and various events. Wellamo's years have accommodated twists and respected chefs, and over the decades it has garnered praise as an atmospheric meeting place. -
